E-Label stands for an electronic label. e-Label is a comprehensive page of relevant consumer information about a given product. The consumer can access it by scanning a QR-code on the wine bottle. This takes them to a page with relevant product data in the language of the country they reside. 

What is an e-label   ?

The e-Label will become mandatory for wines sold in Europe as of January 1, 2023. The shift is driven by the EU 2023/27 Common Agricultural Policy reform aiming to align the regulations between food and beverages and provide consumers with better transparency around the products that they consume (e.g. ingredients, nutritional information, provenance, etc.). So if you want to sell wine to EU consumers, you would need to adopt an e-Label for your products at the start of 2023.
